Tamara Ecclestone has spoken out to defend herself for sharing her intimate breastfeeding photographs.
The Formula One heiress was recently heavily criticised for sharing photos of herself breastfeeding her daughter on holidays.
The socialite welcomed her first child, daughter Sophia with her husband Jay Rutland last year. And debating the issue on Lorraine today, Tamara said mothers should just follow their instinct, saying:
“It was just like a spontaneous moment and I think sometimes those are the nicest pictures and to be honest I just think, why should I not post a picture? If someone is bottle feeding their baby and enjoying it and in the moment and post a picture of their baby while they’re being fed a bottle nobody would have anything to say about that.”
She added:
“I didn’t realise that people would have so many opinions on it, I just thought it was a beautiful photograph of the person that I love so much and on holiday and it was a special moment and that was really the only reason to share that picture.”
However, another mother joining the debate, said celebrity breastfeeding photos made many feel inadequate, saying:
“I am a huge fan of breastfeeding but I think the brelfie is a step too far and oversharing. A lot of women I speak to have struggled to breastfeed, maybe showing how hard it is would be more help to women.”
Tamara is the latest in celebrity mums to share images of themselves breastfeeding, with Gisele Bundchen, Miranda Kerr and Jaime King all sharing similar images on social media.
